Paul continues his exhortation to Timothy, challenging him to preach the Word of God, because it alone is profitable to transform the hearts and minds of his people. The leadership of the church must use the Word of God to guide the people of God in their ongoing walk with God.  The Word is essential for the health of God's people and his church. Because the Bible is profitable, it is essential that we teach and actively hear the Word of God! 

Paul is writing to Timothy again to encourage him to stand firm, to persevere despite the opposition that he may face. He appeals to Timothy, as a spiritual son, to boldly stand on the gospel truths and to faithfully persevere even in suffering, to avoid foolish and divisive debates, and to faithfully stand against false teaching. Endure in the gospel!
