Paul continues his instruction and warning to Timothy on the opponents / false teachers that are likely part of the church at Ephesus. Paul offers the character of these individuals and encourages Timothy to avoid them and by implication - not allow them to influence the church. This message is just as relevant and essential for the church today as it was for Timothy in the 1st Century! As believers, we must avoid ungodly examples, even in the church, and instead follow the truths and example of Christ!

Paul is writing to Timothy again to encourage him to stand firm, to persevere despite the opposition that he may face. He appeals to Timothy, as a spiritual son, to boldly stand on the gospel truths and to faithfully persevere even in suffering, to avoid foolish and divisive debates, and to faithfully stand against false teaching. Endure in the gospel!
