Paul continues by turning from the false teachers to his own example of faithfulness. He again offers a list of traits that characterize those who are faithful servants of Christ. The primary exhortation that Paul offers to Timothy is to faithfully follow the Word of God.  Each believers desperately needs the Word of God to truly be complete. The Scriptures alone offer a way for us to truly be transformed into the image of Jesus. The Bible alone can reorient the way we see and approach the world all around us. We need the Word of God! Because we possess an unshakeable foundation – the BIBLE – for all we believe, teach and do as believers! Because it is our foundation – it must shape us! May God continue to shape us through his mighty Word!

Paul is writing to Timothy again to encourage him to stand firm, to persevere despite the opposition that he may face. He appeals to Timothy, as a spiritual son, to boldly stand on the gospel truths and to faithfully persevere even in suffering, to avoid foolish and divisive debates, and to faithfully stand against false teaching. Endure in the gospel!
