Paul here describes the glory of Jesus and his supremacy, sufficiency and preeminence over all things; especially Creation and Redemption!  Because Jesus is preeminent over all, we as believers should humbly obey and joyfully praise him with our lives every day! May God give us grace to live out our understanding of who Jesus is, as Paul declares him here to the Colossians believers!

Paul writes to the church of Colossae to bolster their understanding and confidence in the supreme position, glory and sufficiency of Jesus for their daily lives and interactions as a church.  Paul addresses the Colossians heresy that is plaguing this body of believers, but does so primarily through his instruction about Jesus and the impact that Jesus should have in the lives of true believers.  The preeminence of Christ is on display throughout this letter to the Colossians believers.
