Paul now comes full circle to address the everyday realities of our most intimate relationships - our relationships in the home!  In each relationship, Paul brings the focus back to the authority and lordship of Jesus in the everyday life of believers.  Because Jesus is the Lord of your life, new motives and actions must characterize our relationships!

Paul writes to the church of Colossae to bolster their understanding and confidence in the supreme position, glory and sufficiency of Jesus for their daily lives and interactions as a church.  Paul addresses the Colossians heresy that is plaguing this body of believers, but does so primarily through his instruction about Jesus and the impact that Jesus should have in the lives of true believers.  The preeminence of Christ is on display throughout this letter to the Colossians believers.
