Paul here is praying and offering thanks for these believers at Colossae, for the truths of the gospel at work in their lives, the fruit of the gospel and the servant of the gospel!  One of the marks of spiritual maturity is thankfulness.  Are you a thankful person?

Paul writes to the church of Colossae to bolster their understanding and confidence in the supreme position, glory and sufficiency of Jesus for their daily lives and interactions as a church.  Paul addresses the Colossians heresy that is plaguing this body of believers, but does so primarily through his instruction about Jesus and the impact that Jesus should have in the lives of true believers.  The preeminence of Christ is on display throughout this letter to the Colossians believers.
