Voting Matters!

Graceway-Church.Vote-2020

It is vital for us to vote as believers!  As citizens, we have a wonderful opportunity to let our voices be heard as we go to the polls and vote.  Please take some time over the next several days to pray – which I trust you have been doing already, but pray for the will of God to be accomplished in our nation. Pray for the glorious name of our God to be exalted, even through the seeming turmoil all around us.

Also, take some time to consider the issues at stake and vote as a believer, bound by your conscience to be committed to the agenda that matters most to the Lord.

Attached are two articles containing both the democratic party platform and the Vote.Button2020republican party platform.  These platforms matter greatly because they inform us as to the direction we should vote.  As one pastor stated to his congregation, "we are not electing a pastor".  We ought to be voting on an individual who is siding most clearly with what is morally appropriate based on the platform they have clearly stated they hold to: issues like the sanctity of life and the ongoing protection of religious liberty. Obviously, we would not endorse everything written or communicated at TGC website, but these two articles are very helpful and do not contain any commentary, just the platforms of both.

Democratic Party Platform / Republican Party Platform

Every election is important. There are many voices out there giving a variety of perspectives about voting and who we should or should not feel appropriately qualified for office.  We need to vote on the issues that have been clearly described in the attached platforms.

I’ve also included a PDF of a great little article by the author of the Gospel Meditations Series that we have given out over the past couple of years!  Wonderful reminders for us about our opportunities as citizens of this great country and our ultimate responses as believers!

We ought to vote our conscience on Tuesday based on the issues stated, not based on personalities, Christian affiliation or any lack thereof.  The stated issues ought to inform our votes, with the understanding that ultimately God lifts up leaders and takes them down.  Our God is worthy of our praise and our trust, no matter the outcome!  Let's continue to rest in his wise and sovereign care over our lives, our nation and our world!
