Topic: Justification, Hope, Reconciled, Romans, 1-AM Sermons Passage: Romans 5:1-11

Paul now transitions to the results of being declared righteous through faith in the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus. This passage begins a section in Romans (chs. 5-8) that will describe the transformation that should be a reality in the life of every person who has been declared righteous by God. Paul begins with the peace that we now enjoy with God through Jesus, a peace that leads to grace and offers "the hope of the glory of God." Paul describes the transformation in our thinking, even about afflictions. Christian hope cannot and will not disappoint because it is grounded on the love of God and guaranteed to us because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. God very tangibly demonstrates his love for mankind in the death of Jesus for the ungodly, for sinners - for us. We have real hope, because we have been reconciled to God through Jesus. We are no longer at enmity with God. So, declared righteousness reorients your entire life.

Throughout Romans, Paul offers a defense of what he believes and teachers about the gospel for these believers in Rome he has not yet met. Some of them may have been questioning him, his message and how it relates to Judaism. Paul writes to explain at length the connection of Jesus, the gospel and defend it, in spite of the rejection of Jesus as the Jewish Messiah by many Jews.
