We live in a world that clamors for peace with no real hope of achieving it, but as followers of Jesus we understand that peace is not an emotion, as much as it is a standing.  We can have peace daily because of our right standing with God through Jesus.  Jesus gives us peace with God and because of the peace provided through Jesus, we can and must have peace with one another. Through his sacrifice, Jesus tears down any hostility that exists between us and God and based on the peace with have through Jesus, we can have peace in our human relationships. Peace is an essential virtue because it demonstrates a reliance on God and a relationship with him through Jesus!
