Always Praying for you!

June 7, 2020 Speaker: pastor dave Series: Letters to the Thessalonians

Topic: Prayer that Exalts God, 2 Thessalonians, 1-AM Sermons Passage: 2 Thessalonians 1:11–12

Our understanding and approach to prayer impacts the manner in which we pray.  Often believers have a tendancy to pray about their wants and needs and neglect to see the importance of connection our prayers to God and to our walk with God.  Paul, by his example, demonstrates that our greatest need and most prominent request should be the spiritual life and growth of others as we pray.  If you note, we never have a recorded prayer from Paul praying for the healing of another believer.  Instead, Paul was focused on growth into Christlikeness.  This is what must frame all of our prayers - a God focused passion for spiritual growth instead of a temporal focus.  May God give you grace to pray in a manner that exalts his greatness, his kingdom and his name!

Throughout the letters to the Thessalonians, Paul writes to encourage these believers through his pastoral words of comfort, instruction and exhortation.  He writes of his relationship and love for the church; he encourages them to grow in their faith, to increase in their love for God and one another and to hope in the God who controls not just their future but their present circumstances.
