Paul writes to his friend Philemon, likely the host of the church of Colossae. Paul appeals to Philemon to accept his servant Onesimus back into his home and now into the church as a brother. Onesimus has come to know the Lord and become a useful help in the ministry. Paul requests that Philemon take Onesimus back and forgive him. Paul demonstrates through his request the spirit that believers ought to have toward others when they are wronged. Believers should be ready and glad to forgive others, especially fellow believers. Forgiveness is an important characteristic of the church and its interaction with one another. Believers must forgive, because forgiveness must characterize the Christian fellowship of genuine followers of Jesus! Are you ready and willing to forgive when you are wronged? We can be, we should be by God's grace.
