James concludes his epistles with an important challenge for believers - rescue or help straying ones return. One of the consistent emphasis throughout the New Testament is the local community of believers and the opportunity we have to impact one another. Here James calls us to care enough for one another to reach out and seek those who may stray, so much so that it is again a mark of genuine faith. Genuine faith seeks to restore (rescue) a straying fellow believer. By God's grace, we can have a community of believers, a body, a family that exemplifies this kind of interaction. 

James, the brother of Jesus, writes to Jewish believers who have been scattered, likely because of persecution. James encourages these believers through instruction on trials, genuine faith, and the appropriate interactions within the community of believers. His goal is to give guidance to these believers as they continue to engage with one another apart from the oversight of the established church in Jerusalem.
