We all love a hero! The Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, put on flesh over 2000 years ago and became the greatest hero of all time! Jesus, God in the flesh, came to rescue us from our sins! He came to live, but most of all to die, as a sacrifice for our sins. The humanity of the of the Son of God became a reality in the person of Jesus. Each of our passages speak to the Son of God taking on flesh, becoming a man. The incarnation then can be defined as: the eternal Son of God, supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit, put on human flesh being born of a virgin, was named Jesus and was the Christ (Messiah), he was truly and fully God and man, and his two distinct natures inter-relate with each other. It is just as important that we understand the whys of his coming and taking on flesh.  Jesus came so that you could know God and could have a relationship with God by believing in Jesus. He also came to tangibly demonstrate how to look out for the interests of others above your own - even when there is seemingly no benefit at all for you! Finally, Jesus came so that his followers can confidently call out to him, assured that he hears them and cares about their struggles. Jesus came for you!
