Jesus is coming again!  We don't know when, but we know he is coming.  Here Jesus begins by answering a question asked by the Pharisees regarding the coming of the Kingdom of God.  Jesus addresses their preconceptions and then turns to his disciples to discuss the coming of the Son of Man - the culmination of the Kingdom of God. Jesus is coming again, but as he explains to his disciples that is not the purpose in this, his first coming. Instead, he has come to die, to go to Jerusalem and take the punishment for the sins of humanity on himself. The disciples don't understand all of these things yet, but they will. May God give us grace to understand and follow Jesus because he is coming again - it could be today!  Are you ready to meet him?

Luke writes to strengthen believers, to address misperceptions of unbelievers, while emphasizing the divine and perfect human aspects of Jesus’ life!  Jesus alone is the Lord and Redeemer of all humanity!  He offers us the assurance that God is at work, accomplishing his purposes, that Jesus is God incarnate and that true followers of Jesus are in reality the people of God, that the Holy Spirit is essential for our every response and action and that no matter who you are or where you’re from Jesus died to rescue you! Jesus is the fulfillment of all the promises of God and though every promise is not yet realized, we can be certain that one day they will be! Luke writes to give certainty and assurance to believers – you can be certain that everything about Jesus is true!
