Paul gives 7 promises and 4 exhortations in this passage.  Each is given in leading to the culminating commands in vs. 1 of chapter 7.  These promises are wonderful reminders of all we possess in Jesus and the exhortations are the means through which we can fully enjoy the promises!

Throughout 2 Corinthians Paul addresses the impact of suffering on ministry, life and the message; the complexity of human relationships at times - the suffering they can cause and the joy of being reconciled when we obey and follow the guidance of the Spirit in our lives.
