In the triumphal entry account, we have the scene of the large crowd that has gathered for the passover celebration.  Jesus is coming into Jerusalem, riding on a colt of a donkey.  The crowds begin to call out praising Jesus, calling him king; but they do not understand who Jesus is or what he actually came to accomplish.  John brings us to the place that we understand why Jesus came and all that means for us as followers of Jesus.  

Throughout the Gospel of John we see the truth that Jesus is the promised one, the anointed one from God through his signs, witnesses, and statements; and he has come to rescue humanity from sin!
