John writes this fourth gospel to declare plainly that Jesus is the promised Messiah, He is God, come in the form of man; ultimately, to redeem mankind from sin and reconcile us to God through His work on the cross.  Throughout this gospel, John demonstrates by specific signs, witnesses and direct statements of Jesus that truly He is the Son of God!
