Throughout Romans, Paul addresses several elements of the gospel. These elements together give us a better understanding of all that we possess as followers of Jesus. Why is the gospel essential? What is the gospel? What are the elements of the Gospel? These questions are essential for God's people to understand and Paul addresses them throughout this letter. This connects to Advent because Jesus provides the answer to each of these questions. The Advent of Jesus offers YOU the good news of salvation from sin and judgment.

Throughout Romans, Paul offers a defense of what he believes and teachers about the gospel for these believers in Rome he has not yet met. Some of them may have been questioning him, his message and how it relates to Judaism. Paul writes to explain at length the connection of Jesus, the gospel and defend it, in spite of the rejection of Jesus as the Jewish Messiah by many Jews.
