Paul is challenging Timothy to endure to the end through the power of the Word. The Word of God can encourage and strengthen us to endure in this life. We must be faithful to the Word, to speaking it faithfully and hearing it faithfully. "The Word must fuel your walk." Paul endured to the end because of the Word and its powerful impact in his life and his personal commitment to it. May God give us grace to love the Word, to engage it faithfully and be transformed daily by its power!

Paul is writing to Timothy again to encourage him to stand firm, to persevere despite the opposition that he may face. He appeals to Timothy, as a spiritual son, to boldly stand on the gospel truths and to faithfully persevere even in suffering, to avoid foolish and divisive debates, and to faithfully stand against false teaching. Endure in the gospel!
