Matthew records for us in his gospel the interaction between Jesus and his disciples, when Jesus asks them who others say he is.  Peter accurately responds that Jesus is the son of the living God!  Jesus goes on to instruct his disciples about the church and the reality that it is his church and that he is actively growing it, as he sees fit.  No matter what we face or come up against, we can trust that God is actively advancing the church!
