Paul challenges Titus to accurately teach the people of Crete, but he reminds him that the way believers live is the loudest statement of what they really believe. Daily actions flow from what we truly believe about God. This challenge is offered to the groups that make up the church including, the older men and woman and the younger women and men. Various challenges are offered to each group, but the theme that flows through to each group is self-discipline. As believers, we should be characterized by self-control, selfless concern for others. Your actions & responses demonstrate what you truly believe about God and his word!

As Paul writes to encourage the pastor Titus serving the churches in Crete, Paul instructs him to set things in order and to appoint pastors in every town and congregation. Titus, as Timothy did in Ephesus, serves as a stabilizing influence and leader in the church on the island of Crete. Paul exhorts Titus to promote doctrine that leads to godly living. The behavior of believers must flow from what they claim to believe. Our daily living must match all we claim to believe about God.
