Paul continues his encouragement of pastor Timothy as he ministers the gospel. He encourages him not to be ashamed of Christ and not to be ashamed of Paul since he is currently imprisoned as he writes.Throughout Paul will encourage Timothy to continue, to carry on, despite the struggles and hardship he encounters. Paul instructs Timothy and us with the truth that we can graciously and boldly hold to the truths of God’s Word with the power of the Spirit.

Paul is writing to Timothy again to encourage him to stand firm, to persevere despite the opposition that he may face. He appeals to Timothy, as a spiritual son, to boldly stand on the gospel truths and to faithfully persevere even in suffering, to avoid foolish and divisive debates, and to faithfully stand against false teaching. Endure in the gospel!
