The Fool is an prevalent topic throughout the book of Proverbs.  Solomon wanted to warn his children of the dangers of fools and to guard against becoming one. Solomon explains to us the basic condition of the fool, the character of the fool and the tragic end of the fool. 

The purpose of Proverbs as a whole is clearly developed for us in the first seven verses of the book. Wisdom begins with a genuine reverence for God, resisting our natural temptation to reject God’s wise direction and treat it as insignificant. We must remember our need for the wisdom of God and the strength that only God can provide to rightly apply that wisdom.
