Every person needs the wisdom of God and the strength that only God can provide to rightly apply that wisdom.  No one is truly wise apart from following the wisdom of God! As Solomon offers wise instructions for living to his son, one of his consistent points is the proper response to reproof and correction. As believers, it is imperative that we respond to one another and in our daily lives with Godly wisdom. Therefore, your response to godly correction demonstrates wisdom.

The purpose of Proverbs as a whole is clearly developed for us in the first seven verses of the book. Wisdom begins with a genuine reverence for God, resisting our natural temptation to reject God’s wise direction and treat it as insignificant. We must remember our need for the wisdom of God and the strength that only God can provide to rightly apply that wisdom.
