The Fear of the Lord is an important topic throughout the book of Proverbs.  It's one of the subjects that Solomon closely aligns with wisdom.  Wisdom is having the knowledge and fear of the Lord. Believers must understand the vital foundation that knowing and fearing God, both lead to appopriate God-exalting living. By God's grace, we can genuinely live with an appropriate level of reverence for God based on our understanding of who he is and all he has done and is doing in our lives!

The purpose of Proverbs as a whole is clearly developed for us in the first seven verses of the book. Wisdom begins with a genuine reverence for God, resisting our natural temptation to reject God’s wise direction and treat it as insignificant. We must remember our need for the wisdom of God and the strength that only God can provide to rightly apply that wisdom.
