Solomon begins his book of Proverbs with a statement describing wisdom and its significance in our lives.  Wisdom is about knowing God and following his guidance in our daily living.

The purpose of Proverbs as a whole is clearly developed for us in the first seven verses of the book. Wisdom begins with a genuine reverence for God, resisting our natural temptation to reject God’s wise direction and treat it as insignificant. We must remember our need for the wisdom of God and the strength that only God can provide to rightly apply that wisdom.
