The preacher of Hebrews continues with a specific exhortation not to drift away from Jesus and all that he is and all he has done for us. This exhortation is almost an aside, the preacher is pausing his argument about the supremacy of Jesus over angels to challenge his readers to endure. The application is to persevere, because Jesus is better than angels - we must persevere. As believers, we must listen and follow the word of God regarding Jesus, because drifting will bring judgment! Judgment is certain for those who drift, deny or reject the truth that is presented about Jesus. The key as always is simply: what will you do with Jesus? Will you persevere in your walk with him? We can by his grace!

Though the author of Hebrews is unknown, the writer offers instruction about Jesus; his person, his work and truth that he is better than angels, Moses, priests and any feature of the old covenant. Jesus is Supreme and Sufficient for believers! Our salvation is secured through his sacrificial work for us. As followers, we can rest in the provision of Jesus for us and we must persevere and encourage others to remain faithful to him.
