Proclaiming his death - Together!

Topic: Communion , Loving Others, Loving One Another, 1-AM Sermons Passage: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34

In 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, Paul famously instructs the church at Corinth regarding the Lord's Supper and how it ought to be conducted to honor Jesus. The Corinthians were desecrating the Lord's Supper by their approach. Their approach was self-centered and self-serving rather than others focused! How do you approach the Lord's Supper?  How do you engage with other believers? The Lord's Supper is all about celebrating what we enjoy through the sacrifice of Christ together. The Lord's Supper is not a personal time of evaluation as much as it is a corporate celebration of all we share through the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf! What a gift!  May we rejoice in it together each time we commemorate his death. The celebration in harmony together is, in part, what proclaims his death until he comes again.

As Paul writes to the church of Corinth, he is challenging the Corinthians to remember the ownership of the Lord Jesus in their lives and to live accordingly.  He calls them to grow up in their understanding of the gospel by maturing in their unity with one another and their own personal purity that must define genuine believers.
