James continues his argument from the logical point to the Biblical basis to avoid partiality in the church. Favoritism and partiality are every bit as much an issue today as they were when James wrote. They may display themselves differently, but many still struggle with reaching out to others. We can make excuses as to why, but James reminds us - partiality in any form, for any reason, is still sin against God. God can give us grace to love our neighbors, practically and tangibly. May God strengthen us to continue to love others like this.

James, the brother of Jesus, writes to Jewish believers who have been scattered, likely because of persecution. James encourages these believers through instruction on trials, genuine faith, and the appropriate interactions within the community of believers. His goal is to give guidance to these believers as they continue to engage with one another apart from the oversight of the established church in Jerusalem.
