There is an emptiness and vanity to hearing the words of God and not acting on the truths you hear. True believers will respond to God’s Word with obedient action, careful speech, and a humble behavior. Are you being changed by the words of God?  We can and must be if we are truly followers of Jesus.

James encourages these believers through instruction on trials, genuine faith, and the appropriate interactions within the community of believers. His goal is to give guidance to these believers as they continue to engage with one another apart from the oversight of the established church in Jerusalem.
