Your Duty to Forgive

September 26, 2021 Speaker: pastor dave Series: The Gospel according to Luke - Certainty for Believers

Topic: Forgiveness, Disciples, Luke, 1-AM Sermons Passage: Luke 17:1-10

Luke continues the interchange of Jesus with the disciples. Here Jesus commands the disciples to forgive. He explains the necessity of forgiveness and the disciples overwhelmed ask for more faith.  Jesus explains, you don't need more faith to obey. As believers, it is important to note that offenses come. At times, we have all been wronged.  How do you respond?  Bitterness? Anger? Wrath? Revenge? Jesus calls his followers to forgive, as he forgives us. By God's grace we can forgive and we must, it's our duty!

Luke writes to strengthen believers, to address misperceptions of unbelievers, while emphasizing the divine and perfect human aspects of Jesus’ life!  Jesus alone is the Lord and Redeemer of all humanity!  He offers us the assurance that God is at work, accomplishing his purposes, that Jesus is God incarnate and that true followers of Jesus are in reality the people of God, that the Holy Spirit is essential for our every response and action and that no matter who you are or where you’re from Jesus died to rescue you! Jesus is the fulfillment of all the promises of God and though every promise is not yet realized, we can be certain that one day they will be! Luke writes to give certainty and assurance to believers – you can be certain that everything about Jesus is true!
