What is your view of God? Can he be trusted? Luke continues his gospel again focusing on the instruction of Jesus to both the disciples and the crowds that have gathered. Jesus offers instruction to his disciples about hypocrisy, fear, persecution and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Then, through a question, Jesus turns to the issue of possessions - for us today, our assets. Jesus pointed addresses the danger and complete lack of satisfaction in trusting possessions. He concludes with an explanation of anxiety and the place we put our trust, our focus. In the end, it comes back to the issue of how do you view God. Do you trust him to care for your needs? Do you trust him to protect you or see you through opposition? Do you trust him to care for your very life? If you have a faulty view of God, its difficult to trust him!
Luke writes to strengthen believers, to address misperceptions of unbelievers, while emphasizing the divine and perfect human aspects of Jesus’ life! Jesus alone is the Lord and Redeemer of all humanity! He offers us the assurance that God is at work, accomplishing his purposes, that Jesus is God incarnate and that true followers of Jesus are in reality the people of God, that the Holy Spirit is essential for our every response and action and that no matter who you are or where you’re from Jesus died to rescue you! Jesus is the fulfillment of all the promises of God and though every promise is not yet realized, we can be certain that one day they will be! Luke writes to give certainty and assurance to believers – you can be certain that everything about Jesus is true!
