Life-Changing Faith

March 7, 2021 Speaker: pastor dave Series: The Gospel according to Luke - Certainty for Believers

Topic: Faith, Power of God, Authority, Luke, 1-AM Sermons Passage: Luke 7:1–17

Luke records for us the account of a centurion who is desperate for his servant to be healed and saved from death.  In humility, he does not approach Jesus, but does send other to ask for healing.  Jesus begins to come and is turned away because the centurion does not believe he is worthy of the presence of Jesus in his home.  Jesus heals his servant.  Luke transitions to another account of Jesus raising a young man from the dead.  Both demonstrate the power and authority of Jesus over sickness and death.  God alone is in control of our health.  God can always be trusted no matter what comes into our lives.

Luke writes to strengthen believers, to address misperceptions of unbelievers, while emphasizing the divine and perfect human aspects of Jesus’ life!  Jesus alone is the Lord and Redeemer of all humanity!  He offers us the assurance that God is at work, accomplishing his purposes, that Jesus is God incarnate and that true followers of Jesus are in reality the people of God, that the Holy Spirit is essential for our every response and action and that no matter who you are or where you’re from Jesus died to rescue you! Jesus is the fulfillment of all the promises of God and though every promise is not yet realized, we can be certain that one day they will be! Luke writes to give certainty and assurance to believers – you can be certain that everything about Jesus is true!
