Luke concludes the birth account of Jesus in the temple with Anna and then when Jesus is a boy of twelve years.  Jesus and his family travel to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of the Passover.  When the family returns home, Jesus stays behind and sits in the temple with the teachers asking questions and interaction with them about the Scriptures.  His parents return and find him after three days.  Jesus is asked why he is here and not with the family and he states this is his intended purpose and his place is in his Father's house focused on his business. Jesus understood his mission, his purpose for being here on earth and yet he came as a man so that he could make a way for us to be reconciled to God.  Truly his deity and humanity are a mystery, yet they are both essential to his role as a sacrificial Savior for the sins of mankind!

Luke writes to strengthen believers, to address misperceptions of unbelievers, while emphasizing the divine and perfect human aspects of Jesus’ life!  Jesus alone is the Lord and Redeemer of all humanity!  He offers us the assurance that God is at work, accomplishing his purposes, that Jesus is God incarnate and that true followers of Jesus are in reality the people of God, that the Holy Spirit is essential for our every response and action and that no matter who you are or where you’re from Jesus died to rescue you! Jesus is the fulfillment of all the promises of God and though every promise is not yet realized, we can be certain that one day they will be! Luke writes to give certainty and assurance to believers – you can be certain that everything about Jesus is true!
