Reading the Easter Story

Graceway-Church.Easter-Bible-Reading

Easter is an extraordinary time of year!  It is always so beautiful to watch the grass get greener, the flowers bud, and the trees begin to sprout new leaves. It is all a beautiful reminder of the new life we enjoy through Jesus, but that new life comes at a great price. New life in Christ for us meant crucifixion, death and burial for Jesus, but Jesus did not stay in the grave; he rose, and that is what we celebrate together every year at Easter!

For the past several years, we have made a Bible reading schedule available that follows the final week of the life of Jesus. It tracks the events Bible-LovetheWord_emmanuel-phaeton-unsplash.960x640through all four gospels, adding the unique perspective of all four witnesses in one account.  If you have never read through this final week, it does take a bit of commitment, but it is a rich blessing to observe the final steps of our Savior as he approaches the cross.  You can track along with that final week beginning this coming Sunday, March 28th, with the triumphal entry, leading to the Passover celebration with his disciples, the garden of Gethsemane, the trial, crucifixion, and finally the following Sunday, his resurrection from the tomb.  The days of the week are there on the reading schedule, and you can follow along through the entire week. Click here to follow this reading plan for the week leading to Easter Sunday.

May God give us grace to see the rich gift of Jesus: his sacrificial work on our behalf.  What a truly indescribable gift!

Happy Easter!
