John first tells us that Jesus went and hid himself from the crowds.  John then gives us a lesson on unbelief and the dangers and results of failing to believe the truths of Jesus!  This section concludes with a summary from Jesus about his work and ministry purpose to humanity.  

Jesus came to reveal the way to eternal life; believe on him today, so that your unbelief does not cause blindness!

Throughout the Gospel of John we see the truth that Jesus is the promised one, the anointed one from God through his signs, witnesses, and statements; and he has come to rescue humanity from sin!
